Artificial Insemination Services
An artificial insemination (AI) is required to improve genetic characters of the animals .Artificial Insemination plays and important role in increasing milk production & good quality genetic potential for enhancing the milk production.
A.I.Services provided for 2009-10 under AI programmed are as below.
No of mobile A.I. centers | 35 |
No of A.I. cases 30559 | 30559 |
No of pregnant animals | 12079 |
No of calves borned by A.I. | 9303 |
Through A.I. programmed, 9000 to 10000 calves of Buffalo and Cow are born every year. However, no. of calves of cows & buffaloes born yearly are not matching to with yearly milk production. Because the farmers are neglecting the newly born calves. The young calf needs to be fed 2-3 liters of milk daily, at least for a period of 3 months. The cost of this milk is Rs.25/- to Rs.30/-, farmers prefer to sell this milk to meet their day-to-day needs. Consequently, the growth rate of calves is highly affected which also has adverse effect on the maturity age as well as on the productive life of dairy animals. Thus our milk union starts calf rearing programme from 17 jan 2004
Calf Rearing programme
AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
1. To reduce the calf mortality
2. Protect good genetic potential
3. To train farmers on feeding management of rearing
FEATURES OF THE PROGRAMME:
1. Registration: - the entire expected calving animal will be listed & After parturition with one month female calf will be registered by the field worker & agreement will be executed.
2. Tagging: - All the registered calves will be tagged at the time of registration.
3. Calf ration /cattle feed:-will be provided from 3 month till it starts milking.
4. vaccination & de-worming :- will be carried out as per schedule
5. Weight gain Measurement:-field staff every three month measure the weight .It is the primary responsibility of the field staff measure the weight gain. If it is not in within the normal range, we take the appropriate steps to gain normal weight in future.
6. Training & extension :-as this is intensive approach farmer needs appropriate training for the successful implementation of programmed
7. If registered cow calf calved after 2 year 6 month sangh pay Rs.1500 subsidy to farmer.
8. If registered buffalo calf calved after 3 year 6 month sangh pay Rs.2000 subsidy to farmer.
